I am Margot, native French Language Teacher since 2005.
I have taught students of all ages in various settings (preschool, primary and secondary school, French school) for almost 20 years, in France, London and Ireland.
Since 2016, I have specialised in helping international French speaking students with tailored French programmes. I have extensive experience teaching the French Primary Curriculum (CP-CM2) as well as secondary level (6eme-3eme) and IB schools (MYP, DP)
I understand the challenges of being an expat' family and the difficulties you can encounter with maintaining a high level of mother tongue language while living abroad.
Not every school or town has a native French teacher who can help your child maintain and develop their French language skills, that's where I come in!
Primary / 6-12 yo
For bilingual students: We cover phonics/reading basics (CP) before moving on to concepts in grammar, spelling and vocabulary, adapted to each student (Ce1-CM2)
FLAM: a fun class based on speaking and listening practice, vocabulary acquisation and cultural knowledge.
For 6-10yo or 11-13yo
For 12-17yo French bilinguals:
Choice of 2 programs:
-Collège (6eme-3eme) /French curriculum for students who might go back to a French school
-Cours FLAM: focused on developing speaking fluency, comprehension skills, and cultural knowledge of France and the Francophonie world
For native speakers/bilinguals enrolled in IB schools:
Support from Grade 7-10 /pre diploma. Developing oral fluency, vocabulary, cultural knowledge, and written skills.
For Grade 11-12: Preparation to IB diploma Language A/mother tongue or Language B
Margot began working with us when we started in 2013 as a French teacher in new London IBMYP school, She taught mother tongue French on a one-to-one basis, For the past few years she has been working with us, but teaching entirely online on a one-to-one or small group basis - she continues to teach French mother tongue to native speakers studying in international schools, and whose parents want them to maintain and develop their French for a return to the French system, or for entry into the IB SSST French Literature A programme. She is a valued colleague, caring and popular with her students, We value her on the team!
She tested his level of French at the outset to identify the appropriate level for him. She takes the children through various exercises orally and on paper that develop their understanding of sounds - I find this also helps develop and recall vocabulary.
She also challenges their listening skills with little stories and questions. She is clearly accustomed to working with small children and will direct their attention as necessary.
We find the classes very useful and my son is happy to (virtually) attend.

I have been taking lessons with Margot for the academic year 2023-24. My starting level was about CM1 in the French Curriculum, and I have now attained CM2/6eme level. We cover all aspects of the French language and culture: grammar, syntax, lexicon, topics and culture. We always make sure we practice all elements and skills at every lesson. I am now in Grade 10 and I am confident to take French language A for my diploma. I highly recommend Margot for lessons
